Terms of Service

The service

Catharsis learns about your organization, matches you with relevant grant opportunities, and drafts grant application content grounded in your own uploaded evidence and a curated knowledge base. Catharsis is a drafting tool, not a grant writer of record: every draft is meant to be reviewed, edited, and approved by a human at your organization before it's submitted anywhere. We never submit an application on your behalf.

AI-generated content

• Catharsis is designed to draft only from evidence you can verify — your own documents plus a curated knowledge base — and to cite its sources. We work to prevent invented facts, but AI systems can still make mistakes.
• You're responsible for reviewing every draft before you submit it to a funder, including checking every factual claim, statistic, and citation against your own records.
• Catharsis does not guarantee that any application will be funded, or that any draft is free of errors.

Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.

Subscriptions & billing

• Seedling is free and doesn't require a card. Core and Unlimited are paid monthly or annual subscriptions, billed in advance through Stripe.
• Each plan includes a monthly grant-draft allowance (see the pricing page for current limits); allowances reset at the start of each billing cycle and don't roll over.
• You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel a paid plan at any time from Plan & billing — changes take effect at the end of the current billing period, and we don't provide partial refunds for unused time.
• We may change our prices with advance notice; continuing to use a paid plan after a price change takes effect means you accept the new price.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you upload or write — your organization's documents, mission, and grant drafts. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and use that content solely to provide the service to you (for example, retrieving your evidence to draft a section, or embedding a document for search). We don't use your content to train third-party AI models.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Catharsis to draft applications containing information you know to be false.
• Attempt to circumvent plan limits, security controls, or access other organizations' data.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the service without our written permission.
• Use the service for anything illegal, or that infringes someone else's rights.

Termination

You can close your account at any time from account settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, and will give you notice where reasonably possible.

Disclaimers & limitation of liability

Catharsis is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of any kind, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We're not liable for a funder's decision on any application, or for indirect or consequential damages.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we'll email the address on your account and update the effective date above before the changes take effect. Continuing to use Catharsis after that means you accept the updated terms.
